Heartland - Cassoday, KS
Heartland is a multi-distance ultrarunning event in Cassoday, Kansas held October 9–11, 2026. The event includes a variety of distances on an out-and-back course that is almost entirely backcountry gravel and dirt roads, with less than one mile of paved surface through Cassoday. Much of the route crosses open range and the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie. The 100-mile course features rolling hills and about 6,000 feet of climb. The 125-mile race adds a 30-mile loop toward Eureka and is offered as a graduate-level option with limited course marking and required map navigation; it includes a roving mobile aid station during the first night.

Aid and crew logistics include 22 aid stations for the 100 mile race and multiple crew access points and drop bag locations varying by distance. Pacers are permitted from the Matfield Green aid station to the finish; only one pacer at a time may accompany a runner and pacers must travel on foot. The 100-mile relay is divided into nine legs; initial registration is limited to ten teams with an introductory price available through July 15, 2026.
