Heartland - Cassoday, KS, October 9–11, 2026
Heartland is a multi-distance ultrarunning event held in Cassoday, Kansas, across the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie. The main courses use backcountry gravel and dirt roads with under one mile of paved surface through open range and rolling hills. The 100-mile course includes about 6,000 feet of climb.

- 125-mile graduate-level option with a 30-mile Eureka loop

- 100K
- Teter Rock 100K out and back to Teter Rock
- 50-mile
- Marathon point-to-point with a 1.2 mile loop in Cassoday
- Teter Rock Half Marathon
- 100-mile 4-person relay, nine legs, four runners per team
Support and logistics: aid coverage varies by distance : for example, the 100-mile course lists 22 aid stations; the 125-mile race adds a roving mobile aid station. Crew access and drop bag availability differ by distance and aid station. Pacers are permitted from the Matfield Green aid station toward the finish. Cutoff and time limits are specified per distance, including a 38-hour limit for the 125-mile and a 30-hour limit for the 100-mile and 100K.
Terrain notes and risks: much of the route is remote with narrow roads, livestock encounters, and limited shelter.
