Heart Of Cool Trail Run
The Heart Of Cool Trail Run takes place in Cool, California, within the Sierra Foothills. This event utilizes the local trail network used by established long-distance races such as the Western States 100 Mile and Way too Cool 50k. Participants can choose from three distinct trail distances:
- 5k Trail Run/Walk (3.1 Miles)
- 10k Run/Walk (6.2 Miles)
- Trail Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
The half marathon course carries a 4-hour completion cutoff time. To minimize litter and environmental impact, this is a cup-free event. Runners are required to bring their own reusable cups or water bottles to use at the aid stations provided along the routes.
Proceeds from the race support local youth initiatives within the Black Oak Mines Unified School District, specifically focusing on agriculture, engineering, and the arts. A portion of the funds also provides scholarships for youth with heart disease to attend Camp Taylor.
The venue offers several amenities, including a post-race pancake breakfast and on-site child care for children ages three and older for a fee. Registration includes a cotton t-shirt for those who sign up by the designated September deadline. Packet and bib pickup is organized on the day of the race at the event location on Cave Valley Road.
