Heart of Cool Trail Run
The Heart of Cool Trail Run takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Cool, California. The event is based at Northside STEAM School, 860 Cave Valley Rd., Cool, CA 95614.

- 10k Run/Walk
- Trail Half Marathon
Net proceeds support programs funded through Georgetown Divide Ready by 21, Inc., a nonprofit that works with partners across the Georgetown Divide and El Dorado County on youth development. A portion of funds will be used to scholarship a child to attend Camp Taylor, a camp for youth with heart disease.
Register by September 25 to receive a Heart of Cool shirt with registration. All half marathon participants receive an additional item for 2026, details to be announced. Packet and bib pick up occurs on race day. Registration is available online until the start of each event.
The course uses trails in Cool and the Sierra Foothills that are also used by events such as Western States 100 Mile, Way Too Cool 50k and Rio Del Lago 100 Mile. To reduce waste, the event is cup free; participants should bring a cup or water bottle for refills at aid stations. A post race pancake breakfast is planned. Child care is available for an additional fee for children ages 3 and up. Volunteers are requested to assist on race day or the day before.
