Heart Healthy 5K and Fun Walk
The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy chapter of the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) hosts this annual athletic event during the university's Homecoming Weekend in Findlay, Ohio. The event supports heart health initiatives, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the American Heart Association. Participants can choose between several distances and participation methods:
- 5 km (In-person)
- 1.5 miles Fun Walk (In-person)
- 5 km (Virtual option)
The in-person course uses a path that begins and ends at the Griffith Memorial Arch on the University of Findlay campus. Professional timing services are provided for the event by Run Toledo. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual 5 km option allows participants to complete the distance independently and submit their times via an online form.
Before the physical activities begin, the event features educational tables hosted by College of Pharmacy students which include various activities. Participants who visit all student tables are eligible for a raffle drawing held after the race. Additionally, students from the University of Findlay Doctor of Physical Therapy Program provide post-race services, including injury screens, cupping, massage, and stretching.
