About the race
The 2026 Heart and Ghoul 5K and 1 mile Spooky Sprint is a Halloween-themed road event organized by United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties on October 31, 2026, in Historic Downtown Wooster, Ohio. The starting line is at 151 North Market Street, Wooster.
Two event options are offered:
- 5K with electronic chip timing, on-course support, a finisher's medal, and post-race nutrition.
- 1 mile Spooky Sprint untimed, with goblins and goodies along the route and finishers nutrition.
Registration includes touchless packet pick up on the day of the event and a race bib. Premium race shirts are included for 5K registrations completed by October 4, 2026. The 5K awards first through third place for male and female finishers.
Course descriptions: The 1 mile Spooky Sprint follows an out-and-back on North Market Street. The 5K starts at North and Market Streets, proceeds north on Market, then follows Bowman, Woodland, Northwestern, Beechwood, completes a loop, and returns along the same course to finish at North and Market Streets.
Proceeds support United Way funded programs with funds staying local. The event is presented by Wooster Color Point and supported by local sponsors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
