Empowering Children 5K, 1 Mile, and Beach Clean-Up presented by Heal the Planet
This event takes place on September 20, 2026, at Charnow Park on Hollywood Beach in Hollywood, Florida (300 Connecticut St). The program includes timed running events and a community beach cleanup that follows the running portion of the day.

The 5K is chip timed and managed by Victory Sports. Awards are provided to the top three overall finishers and to the top three finishers in each age group category. The event raises funds for Heal The Planet, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free education and community programs focused on nutrition, life skills, mindfulness, and environmental issues.
Heal The Planet runs the SEED program and Young SEEDs in the Park, and supports monthly beach cleanups and sports programming. The organization reports reaching over 15,500 local children through education programs and keeping more than 3,300 pounds of garbage out of the oceans through cleanup efforts. The event combines running with environmental stewardship by inviting participants and attendees to take part in the hands-on beach cleanup after the races.
