Event details
The 3rd Annual Head for the Cure 5K - San Diego is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event takes place at Mission Bay - Tecolote Shores South, located between the North and South Playgrounds at 1344 E Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109. The day includes packet pick up (details to be announced), a kids fun run (an untimed short dash for children), a brain tumor survivor photo, and community recognitions under the headings Keeping the Faith and Legacy of Love.

Funds raised will benefit UC San Diego Department of Neurological Surgery, Path to Hope, and other national brain cancer programs, education, and initiatives. The campaign shows $506.86 raised toward a $75,000 goal. All attendees are given the opportunity to fundraise for the campaign.
Registration and fees
Registration options and associated fees are listed for in-person and virtual participation. Early Bird 5K registration is $34 and includes an event t-shirt, timing bib, and medal; a 5K plus dog registration is $49 and includes person and dog items; a kids fun run registration is $25 for children 9 or younger and includes a t-shirt and ribbon; virtual registration is $40 and includes mailed t-shirt and medal but not race-day packet pick up.
