2026 Pittsburgh 5K - Head for the Cure
The 8th Annual Head for the Cure 5K - Pittsburgh is a community event focused on raising awareness and funds for brain tumor research. Held at the North Park Boathouse in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, the event brings together brain cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and supporters.
Participants can take part in the following distances:
- 5 km (run or walk)
- 100 meter dash (Kids Fun Run)
The event serves as a platform for several community recognitions. The Keeping the Faith award pays tribute to those currently fighting or who have survived a brain tumor. The Legacy of Love recognizes caregivers and medical professionals, while the Healthcare Hero award honors individuals across the healthcare sector. There is also a dedicated memorial component to celebrate the lives of those who have battled brain cancer.
Proceeds from the event are distributed to local and national beneficiaries. Locally, funds support brain tumor research at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the Brain Cancer Awareness 5K. National contributions support the Path to Hope and other brain cancer programs, education, and initiatives.
The event includes a scheduled photo for brain tumor survivors and a special recognition ceremony. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Pro Bike + Run North Park, as well as on the morning of the event at the race site.
