Event Information

The Head for the Cure 5K - Detroit is a charity run/walk event. It will be held on August 16, 2026. The event takes place on Belle Isle at 99 Pleasure Drive in Detroit, Michigan.

Course and Logistics

The event features a 5K run/walk. A Kids Fun Run of 100 meters is also scheduled. Participants can pick up their race packets on the morning of the event. Parking is available on Belle Isle; a Michigan Recreation Passport is required for entry, or a fee of $15 per car applies.

Purpose and Beneficiaries

This is the 13th annual event. Funds raised support brain cancer awareness and research. The primary local beneficiary is the Henry Ford Hermelin Brain Tumor Center. Funds also support Path to Hope and other national brain cancer programs, education, and initiatives.

Special Recognitions

The event includes several community recognitions. These include the "Legacy of Love" for caregivers, the "Healthcare Hero" award, the "Keeping the Faith" recognition for survivors, and memorials for those who have passed away from brain cancer.
