Head for the Cure 5K Detroit 2026
The 13th Annual Head for the Cure 5K in Detroit is scheduled for August 16, 2026 on Belle Isle, located at 99 Pleasure Drive, Detroit, MI 48207. The event is a community run/walk focused on raising awareness and funds for brain tumor research, education, and support programs.
Proceeds from the event will locally benefit the Henry Ford Hermelin Brain Tumor Center and Path to Hope, as well as other national brain cancer programs and initiatives. The program includes a community 5K and related activities that recognize people affected by brain tumors.
Organizers provide packet pick up the days before the event at local locations for individual and team packet collection. On site amenities and activities include a kids fun run, a brain tumor survivor photo, and several recognition categories such as Legacy of Love, Healthcare Hero, Keeping the Faith, and Memorial recognitions.
The event takes place on Belle Isle; participants driving onto the island must present a Michigan Recreation Passport or pay a daily vehicle entry fee of fifteen dollars. Course and parking maps are provided by the organizer. A group of local sponsors and partners support the event and its fundraising efforts.
