HCA Marathon : Odense
HCA Marathon is an annual running event in Odense offering multiple distances: 42.195 km marathon, a half marathon, and a MiniMarathon of 4.2 km. The race takes place on a traffic-free, measured and A.I.M.S. approved route through Odense with depots, medical support and music along the course.
Logistics include numbered racebags issued at number pickup and staffed bag storage at Odense Idrætspark, separate halls for marathon and half marathon bag drop, and the possibility to leave personal nutrition for depot delivery. Several large and small aid stations are placed on the route providing water, energy drink and bananas. A bike sweep marks the back of the field; runners arriving after the sweep must follow regular traffic rules.
Race numbers include a timing chip; results are recorded as gross and net times. There are designated pacers for a range of target finish times. Fast runners with documented recent times may access front start positions. Music in-ear devices is not allowed for safety reasons.
Event weekend features a free sports fair with vendors, talks and activities, number pickup and t-shirt distribution. Finishers receive a medal on crossing the line; on-site engraving is available for an extra fee. The event is part of a regional challenge that offers a special start number and an extra medal for completing all required races within a calendar year.
