Hawthorn Hustle 5K
The Hawthorn Hustle is an annual community fundraiser organized by the Hawthorn PTO. The event for 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, at Century Park North, 1401 Indianwood Dr., Vernon Hills, with an inclement weather date of August 30. The 5K is a timed course that follows a route around Big Bear and Little Bear Lakes in Century Park. A separate 1 mile Fun Run is offered as an untimed option; participants may walk, run, or use a stroller.
Packet pick-up is available on Wednesday, August 19 at Yard House Vernon Hills, and packets may also be collected on race day. Parking is available at the Century Park playground, the park boat dock, Lakeview Presbyterian Church, Indianwood Drive, and limited space in Century Park.
Registration fees vary by category and date: early bird 5K registration through July 31 is $35, rising to $45 on or after August 1. The Fun Run fee is $30. Reduced fee of $28 applies to school or student run clubs and Hawthorn staff, with a $150 family maximum. Every registered participant receives a short sleeve t-shirt; XXL and XXXL sizes incur an additional $4 fee.
Volunteers and committee members are used to support event organization. The Hawthorn Hustle raises funds for the Hawthorn PTO and Hawthorn District 73 Schools; refunds for inclement weather are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
