Hawthorn Hustle 5K
The Hawthorn Hustle 5K is the 11th annual fundraiser organized by the Hawthorn PTO for Hawthorn District 73 schools. It is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Century Park North in Vernon Hills, with an inclement weather date of August 30.
The event offers two distances:
- 5K run timed around Big Bear and Little Bear Lakes.
- 1 mile fun run/walk non‑timed, stroller friendly.
Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, August 21 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Portillo’s & Barnelli’s in Vernon Hills; packets can also be picked up on race day. Both races include a short sleeve t-shirt; XXL and XXXL shirts incur a $4 additional charge. Registration pricing listed for the event includes an early bird 5K rate and later rates, a reduced fee for school or student run clubs and staff, and a family maximum fee.
A raffle accompanies the event with tickets priced at $5 each or six for $25; the raffle catalog is made available in advance and winners are contacted after the event. The 5K is open to all ages. Refunds will not be issued for inclement weather. The event seeks volunteers and committee members to assist with organization and race-day operations.
