Hawks Cay Heroes Salute 5K Run/Walk
The Hawks Cay Heroes Salute 5K Run/Walk takes place on the island of Duck Key as part of an annual weekend tradition. This event serves to honor active-duty military, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS personnel. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic, military, or first responder gear while navigating the course through the resort and island surroundings.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km run/walk
Registration for this event is capped at 200 participants. Each registrant receives a race bib, a timing chip, and an official race T-shirt, though shirt sizes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pickup is organized at the Marina Event Lawn on the evening before the race or on the morning of the event.
The competition is divided into several categories based on age and gender. Awards are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers in the following divisions:
- Women: 17 and under, 18-49, and 50+
- Men: 17 and under, 18-49, and 50+
The race begins with the National Anthem before runners and walkers set out on the Duck Key course. This event marks the 18th year of the Heroes Salute tradition at the resort. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
