Haunted Wine Run 5k at Busse Woods
The Haunted Wine Run 5k is a chip timed 5k run and walk held at Busse Woods, starting and finishing at Busse Forest South Picnic Grove #5 in Elk Grove Village, IL. The course is a flat out and back tour of the forest preserve and is described as suitable for both runners and walkers. Participants receive race swag that includes a Super Soft ring spun cotton T shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, and a race bib. Results are posted online and finishers are offered a pour of wine at the finish line.
The event works with The Bridge Youth and Family Services as its charity partner. Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each 10 year category, with categories including 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & Over. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards; winners should check posted results and pick up awards at the registration table. Age group medals are available for pickup on the day of the event and will not be shipped.
Additional notes from the event page state that minors may participate with a reduced registration that does not include wine or a wine glass, strollers are allowed but not recommended due to uneven ground, walking is permitted, and dogs are not allowed on site.
