Haunted Halfie : Rochester, MN
Haunted Halfie is a race weekend in Rochester, MN that features a USATF-certified course and multiple events for different ages. The weekend program includes a half marathon, a team half relay, a 5K, and a Little Monsters 1K. The event is organized by the local team behind the Med City Marathon with support from Olmsted Medical Center and other community partners.
The course includes Halloween themed cheer zones, costume contests, live music and DJs, and water stops hosted by local nonprofits and sports teams. A pacing group called Rest in Pace provides steady pacing options along the route. The finish area at Rochester Community and Technical College includes a finish line celebration with a custom hot drink mug for finishers, complimentary hot cocoa or apple cider, finish line snacks, and space for vendors and family activities.
Participant gear for in-person and virtual runners includes a crewneck sweater, custom finisher medal, canvas tote bag, neck buff, and a ceramic finisher mug with lid and cork bottom. A virtual entry option ships gear to the address provided, typically one to four days before the event.
The event donates a portion of registration proceeds to local mental health resources, including Aidan’s Light. A limited number of charity runner spots offer free registration in exchange for agreed fundraising. Other practical notes: the event is chip timed, participants must sign a waiver, no dogs are allowed, strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers only, and there is no gear check.
