Spooky Fall Running Tradition in Rochester
The Haunted Halfie is an annual fall running event held in Rochester, Minnesota. Hosted by the organizers of the Med City Marathon, the event takes place at the Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC). The races utilize a USATF-certified course designed for fast times and feature Halloween-themed elements, including costume contests, cheer zones, and music provided by DJs throughout the route.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- Half Marathon (individual or team relay)
- 5K
- 1K Little Monsters run
The event serves as a fundraiser for local mental health resources. A portion of registration fees is donated to Aidan-s Light, an organization focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. The "Rest-In-Pace" (RIP) pacing team is available on the course to assist runners in meeting their time goals.
Amenities include water and sports drink stations, along with a post-race party held at the RCTC field house. Finisher packages include a variety of themed items such as a crewneck sweater, a custom finisher medal, a canvas tote bag, and a ceramic finisher mug. Finishers are provided with snacks, hot cocoa, and apple cider. The event is open to both runners and walkers, and strollers are permitted if starting at the back of the corral.
