Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run
The Polar Bear event is a prediction-style 5K held in Rochester, Minnesota at 116 17th Avenue Northwest. Participants choose a target finish time and begin the course so that their finish coincides with the event's designated finish time. The official clock is not visible at the finish line and participants are not allowed to wear or use watches or other timing devices. Finishing before the designated finish time results in disqualification.
The race begins and ends on the trail near Minnesota Treads and the organizers currently intend to use the route around Cascade Lake. Packet pickup is available at Minnesota Treads before the run. A race gift is included with registration.
Prizes are awarded at the event finish: the first ten people to cross the line at the designated finish time receive a carved Polar Bear trophy. After the run, award announcements take place in an event center room at a nearby pub, where food and beverages are available.
Registration fees vary by membership status and registration date.
