Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run : Rochester Running Club
The Polar Bear event on January 2, 2027 is a prediction-style 5K organized by the Rochester Running Club at 116 17th Avenue Northwest, Rochester, MN. The start and finish will be on the trail near Minnesota Treads, with the intended course routing around Cascade Lake. A packet pickup will be available at Minnesota Treads before the run.
Participants estimate their own finish time and choose a starting offset so they arrive at a single official finish time. The official clock at the finish is not visible, and participants are not allowed to wear or use any timing device. Finishes that occur before the official target finish time are disqualified. Stopping on the course is not permitted.
The first ten participants to cross the finish at the official target time will receive carved Polar Bear awards. Registered entries include a race gift. Registration pricing varies by date: early rates through December 14, 2026 are $20 for Rochester Running Club members and $25 for non-members; later registration increases, and race day fees are higher. Winners are announced immediately after the run at the Event Center room of Charlie's Eatery & Pub, where food and beverages will be available for attendees.
