Hashawha Hills 50 km Trail Run

This trail run covers a 50 km distance, equivalent to approximately 31 miles. The course has a total ascent and descent of 5,800 feet and has a time cutoff of 9 hours.

The route consists of single-track trails, old woods roads, and open fields. It includes a few stream crossings. The terrain features many small hills. The course is runnable, with no mountains, rocks, or roots. The scenery includes woods, meadows, and rolling farmland views.

The course will be marked with pink ribbons, pink flags, and blue arrow signs. Intersecting trails will be blocked with red ribbons.

There are five aid stations along the course, one of which allows for drop bags. Aid stations are stocked with water, sports drink, sandwiches, chips, pretzels, cookies, candy, and soda. The longest distance between aid stations is up to 8.5 miles.

The event starts and finishes at a covered picnic pavilion near the Bear Branch Nature Center in Westminster, Maryland. Pre-race and post-race activities are held indoors in a heated auditorium with bathrooms. Post-race, hot food and drinks are provided indoors.

The race uses a lottery-based entry system. The entry fee is $18.55. All finishers receive a handmade pottery mug. Unique handmade awards are given to the first male and female finishers.

Parking at the venue is limited. The park has a no-alcohol policy. The event is held in late February, when weather can be cold with potential for snow, ice, mud, or high winds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
