13th Annual Harvest Hustle 5K in Niles
The Harvest Hustle is a community 5K event held at Notre Dame College Prep High School, 7655 W Dempster St, Niles, IL 60714. The event program includes two running events: an adult 5K Run/Walk and a 5K Youth Run/Walk, each covering 3.1 miles. Registration fees are listed for each event: $25.00 for the adult 5K and $10.00 for the youth 5K. Registration opens on April 29, 2026 and closes on October 3, 2026 for the adult event and on October 8, 2026 for the youth event. Participants receive a race package on the day of the event and each participant will receive a participation medal that can be picked up at the race.
Proceeds from entry fees and donations benefit the Niles Family Services Food Pantry. Over the years the event has raised more than $35,000 and has collected thousands of pounds of food to assist local families. The food pantry currently lists cleaning supplies as the highest priority need, along with paper plates, plastic utensils, and cups. Useful food items include canned fruit and vegetables, tuna, individual sized cereals, oatmeal, crackers, rice, peanut butter, jelly, Chef Boyardee cans, chili, and pasta sauce.
