Event Overview
The Hancock4Kids Superhero 5K is an annual community event taking place at the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza and the Pennsy Trail in Greenfield, Indiana. This celebration marks its tenth anniversary and focuses on family oriented activities alongside several running distances. Participants are encouraged to wear superhero costumes and gear during the races.
Race Options
The event features a variety of distances for different age groups and roles:
- 5K: A chip-timed race for adults, youth, and community heroes.
- 100m Kids’ Dash: Designed for children aged 5 and under.
- 150m Kids’ Dash: A slightly longer distance for children up to age 10.
- 100m Hero Dash: A dash specifically for first responders in their uniforms.
Participant Information
All 5K participants, including adults and students, receive a commemorative medal. Registration for certain groups, such as the Kids' Dashes and Community Heroes—including law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, educators, healthcare workers, and military members—is available at no cost. For the Hero Dash, the winner is awarded a trophy.
Venue and Activities
The event base is located at the Courthouse Square and utilizes the Pennsy Trail for the course. Beyond the races, the site features community partner booths with giveaways, various activity stations, and free games for children.
