The hella hamburg half marathon is a major road race in Germany, identified as the second largest stand-alone half marathon in the country. The event is a member of AIMS and holds a World Athletics Road Race Label. The race is held on an officially measured point-to-point course of 21.0975 km. The route is primarily flat, paved, and kept clear of vehicle traffic.
The course begins on the Reeperbahn and passes numerous tourist attractions in Hamburg, finishing at the Expo Hamburg. To support runners during the summer conditions, a comprehensive supply system with seven refreshment stations is positioned along the route. Over 40 artists, musicians, and DJs provide entertainment across the course.

Participation in the half marathon is open to individuals born in 2010 or earlier, with no club affiliation required. The kids' races are designated for children born between 2013 and 2021. Facilities at the event include clothing bag storage, changing rooms, and showers located near the finish area. All finishers receive a commemorative medal.
