Ham & Yam Hog Trot 5K
Ham & Yam Hog Trot 5K is held in downtown Smithfield, NC as part of the 40th annual Ham & Yam Festival on May 2, 2026. Both the 5K and the half-mile Piglet Stampede start at the Girl Scout Hut at 306 S. Second Street and are run out and back on the Neuse River Greenway.

Registration fees and items are listed for each distance, with the 5K fee shown as $40 and the Piglet Stampede fee shown as $10. Registration includes a Gildan Softstyle t-shirt in sizes YS to 3XL. The last day to register to receive a shirt on race day is Friday, April 10th. There is no advanced check-in; packet pickup is available on race day only.
Water will be available after the race and at the turn-around point, and bananas will be provided after the race. Results can be obtained at a Precision Race results tent for a printout, viewed online, or accessed in the ItsYourRace mobile app. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women and to the top three men and women in these age groups: 12 & Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
