Half Day at the Lake - Evanston, IL
Half Day at the Lake is a timed endurance event held on September 26, 2026 in Evanston, Illinois. The event offers two formats:
- 12 hour race
- 6 hour race
The course is a 2 mile loop along a shared lakefront path and includes paved sections and some crushed gravel; runners may use the grass alongside the path for much of the route. The route passes Evanston's lakefront and the Northwestern University campus and is approved by the city of Evanston and Northwestern University. Public water fountains and restrooms are available along the course in addition to aid station provisions.
Two aid stations are provided: a main aid station at the start/finish with snacks, beverages, and hot soup or broth, and a smaller aid station near the far north end with snacks. Finishers receive a nonalcoholic Hop2o Hop Water can from Sketchbook Brewery and a handcrafted finisher award. There are no individual placement awards.
Pacers are permitted; participants should notify check in if using a pacer. Pacers who run the majority of a participant’s time are required to be registered for a small fee. Packet pickup locations and times are listed for Commonwealth Running Company in Evanston and at Centennial Park on race weekend. Registration closes on September 24, 2026.
