Half Day at the Lake : Evanston, IL
Half Day at the Lake is a timed endurance event held in Evanston, Illinois with 6 hour and 12 hour race options. The course is a 2 mile loop along a shared paved path and some crushed gravel that passes Evanston's lakefront and the Northwestern University campus. The route is open to walkers, runners, and occasional bikers, and the course is approved by the city of Evanston and Northwestern University.
The route includes numerous public water fountains and restrooms. The event provides two aid stations: a main station at the start and finish offering snacks, beverages, and hot soup or broth, and a smaller station near the far north end with snacks. Finishers receive a can of Hop Water non alcoholic beverage courtesy of Sketchbook Brewery and a handmade finisher award.
Pacers are allowed; participants should notify organizers at check in if using a pacer. If a pacer will run most of a participant's time, a small registration fee for the pacer applies. The event aims to accommodate special needs; runners using a stroller or wheelchair should inform organizers in advance.
Early bird pricing applies before July 15 with reduced fees. Registration closes September 24, 2026. Packet pickup occurs at a local running store and on race day at Centennial Park.
