Hair of the Dog - Minot
Hair of the Dog takes place on May 9, 2026 in Minot at Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks, 510 East Central Ave. The event combines running, dog activities, and beer with proceeds supporting local animal rescues.
Events include:
- 5K Run/Walk and Dog Jog
- Beer Mile individual
- Beer Mile relay team
- Kids Donut Dash for children 12 and under
- Wiener Dog Derby for Dachshunds and mixes
The 5K is a timed run/walk where participants may bring dogs; human entrants receive a signature Hair of the Dog mug and a complimentary post-run beer at Atypical. The Beer Mile consists of four sections of beer drinking followed by four quarter-mile loops; a penalty lap is required if a participant vomits. Beer mile entrants must show proof of age and will receive a mug plus the beers used in the event. A relay team option is available for the Beer Mile.
The Kids Donut Dash requires children to eat a donut and run a quarter mile and includes a participation medal. The Wiener Dog Derby welcomes Dachshunds and mixes; each dog receives a treat bag and a custom race bandana and may compete for top placements.
Packet pickup is held the day before and the morning of the event, with additional check-in for beer mile and wiener dog entries. Same-day registration is available and payment by cash or card is accepted. Signature shirts and stickers are sold on site with profits going to local rescues. Awards are given for overall and age divisions in the 5K, for Beer Mile top finishers and relay winners, and for the top Wiener Dogs.
