Hair of the Dog is a one-day event at Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks in Minot, North Dakota, held on May 15, 2027. Proceeds and activities support local animal rescue organizations. Event highlights and rules are as follows. The 5K is a traditional timed 3.1 mile run; participants may bring dogs and all human 5K participants receive a signature Hair of the Dog mug and a complimentary post-run beer at Atypical. The Beer Mile requires drinking one beer inside a designated Beer Zone and running a 1/4 mile loop four times; a vomiting infraction results in a one-lap penalty. Beer Mile and relay entrants must show valid photo ID for age verification and will receive wristbands; beer mile participants receive the event mug and the beers used in the race. The Kids Donut Dash is for ages 12 and under; participants eat a donut, run 1/4 mile, and receive a participation medal. The Wiener Dog Derby is open to dachshunds and dachshund mixes; each dog receives a treat bag and bandana, and top dogs are awarded. Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event, with same-day registration and card/cash payment accepted. Awards are given for top finishers in specified categories.
