Hair of the Dog - Minot

Overview

Hair of the Dog takes place on May 9, 2026, at Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks in Minot, ND. The event benefits local animal rescue organizations and combines running, dogs, and beer across several activities held during the day. Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event, with same-day registration possible. Beer mile participants must show government-issued photo ID; participants receive wrist bracelets for the event where required.

Prizes and participant items vary by event. 5K participants receive a signature mug and a complimentary post-run beer. Beer mile participants receive a signature mug and the four beers used in the event. Kids in the Donut Dash receive a participation medal. Wiener Dog Derby entrants receive a treat bag and a custom race bandana.

The event program also includes a Beer Mile Relay and a Wiener Dog Derby for Dachshunds and mixes. Entry fees listed on the organizer page include $27 for the 5K, $37 for the individual Beer Mile, $52 for a Beer Mile relay team, $10 for the Kids Donut Dash, and $20 for the Wiener Dog Derby; some events note price increases after specified dates. Awards include top overall and age-group placements for the 5K, top finishers in the Beer Mile and relay, and top three dogs in the Wiener Dog Derby.
