Event Overview
The Gwynn’s Island Raw Bar Run is a 5K road run taking place on Gwynn's Island. The 12th annual event is a partnership between The Hatchery and the Mathews Outdoor Club.
Course and Location
The race starts and ends on Callis Wharf Road, following a 3.1-mile route along the waterfront road with views of the Piankatank River, wharfs, a bridge, and a marina. The event is held at a new location: Oyster Seed Holdings/The Hatchery at 425 Callis Wharf Rd, Grimstead, Virginia.
Registration and Participation
Registration costs $30 and closes on March 27; there is no race-day registration. The event includes awards for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers in three age groups: Under 40, 40-59, and Over 60. Strollers and pets are permitted on the course.
Post-Race Details
A post-race celebration features live music and a free raw oyster bar for runners. A food truck will be open for lunch. Runners receive a wristband for the oyster bar, one free beer ticket (for those 21+), and a $5 gift voucher for the Hatchery Food Truck. Parking is limited, and runners are issued a parking pass.
