Gunnison Valley Triathlon
The Gunnison Valley Triathlon takes place on August 22, 2026, at the Gunnison Recreation Center, 200 E. Spencer Ave, Gunnison, Colorado. The event includes a Sprint Triathlon plus separate Kids, Team Relay, and Youth Team Relay categories. Registration fees vary by event.
Race operations are staged from the Recreation Center with the swim held in the Community & Aquatics Center. The course sequence is swim, bike, run with the finish at the Community Center.
Distances:
- 500 yard swim (10 laps) at the Community & Aquatics Center.
- 23K (14.5-mile) bike on asphalt using the bike path and County Road #730.
- 6.4K (4-mile) run on the Van Tuyl Trail system over a gravel surface.
The transition zone is located on the lawn east of the pool and can be accessed 1.5 hours before race start. All participants receive a t-shirt at registration. The top three finishers in each age category receive medals. A post race gathering includes an award ceremony, food and beverages for participants, and a beer and seltzer garden.
Age groupings are provided for kids and adults. Kids: ages 3-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-14. Adults: ages 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
