The Gullane Beach Triathlon 2026
The Gullane Beach Triathlon returns for its 30th annual edition on Sunday 6th September 2026. This event is established as Scotland's original sea swim based standard distance triathlon. The competition is located at Gullane Bents on the East Lothian coast, situated approximately 18 miles east of Edinburgh on the A198.
Participants can choose from several entry formats:
- Standard Distance Triathlon: Comprising a 1500m swim, 42km cycle, and 10km run.
- Relay Teams: A team of three members where each person completes one of the three disciplines.
- Swim-Bike: An alternative option for those focusing on the first two disciplines.
- Bike-Run: A duathlon style option for those focusing on the final two disciplines.
The course utilizes the natural landscape of Gullane Bay and its surrounding areas. The 1500m swim takes place in the sea and consists of two laps, featuring a beach run. The 42km bike leg is a multi-lap course held on quiet roads near Gullane. The final 10km run consists of two laps on a mainly off-road circuit that provides views of the sea. Registration takes place on-site at Gullane Beach on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
