Gruesome Twosome
The Gruesome Twosome is an urban trail running event held at Aldergrove Regional Park. The event is designed to encourage running with a partner, though individual participation is also permitted. The course features a variety of landscapes, including rolling meadows, mixed forests, and wetlands with views of surrounding mountain ranges.
The trails consist of wide, hard-packed dirt and gravel. Participants can select from the following distances:
- 22 km: A double-loop course consisting of two 11 km laps with undulating hills.
- 11 km: A single loop featuring a mix of flat sections and rolling terrain.
- 5 km: A route that follows mainly flat paths through forests and fields.
- 1 km: A short fun run for all ages on non-technical trails.
The event is stroller-friendly, specifically for running strollers capable of handling gravel. Aid stations are situated along the routes, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks. The start and finish area includes a kids' zone with games and a dedicated station for nursing and changing infants. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available for the 5 km, 11 km, and 22 km distances.
Registration proceeds support the organization BabyGoRound. Participants are advised that dogs are not permitted to run on the trails during the event. As the park is a multi-use space, runners may encounter other users, including horseback riders, and are expected to follow trail etiquette.
