Event Overview
The Growler Gallop Atwater is a running event held on a Sunday in September. It starts and finishes at Atwater Brewery in downtown Detroit. The event is described as a fall brewery race.
Distances and Courses
The event offers two main distances, with multiple registration types for each.
- 10 Mile: This course is USATF-certified. It runs along the Detroit Riverwalk and around Belle Isle.
- 5K: This course is described as flat. It follows the Riverwalk with a turnaround before the Belle Isle Bridge. The 5K is noted as being accessible for walkers and strollers.
Virtual options are available for both distances. Special "Chariot" divisions exist for participants pushing strollers or riding in them.
What's Included
Registration includes chip timing and race day photography. Participants 21 and over receive a post-race beer ticket. Depending on the registration package, participants may receive a hoodie and a finisher's medal. The medal is part of a series called the Trivium Michigan Mega Medal Series.
An "Economy Package" registration option is available, which offers a lower price but does not include the hoodie, medal, or beer ticket.
Awards and Series
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 10 Mile. Age group awards include items like growlers and howlers filled with beer. The event is the fifth race in a six-race statewide series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
