Groovy Granite - June 13, 2027
Groovy Granite is a trail running event in Lee River, MB, held on Treaty 1 territory at the historic grounds of the AECL Underground Research Laboratory. The course follows the rim of a large granite batholith and offers views of the Lee River, Boreal Forest, and extensive weathered rock formations.
Participants choose from looped course distances:
- 7 km
- 14 km
- 21 km
An aid station at the start and finish area is stocked with water, Gatorade, SunRype bars, candy, chips, and a pickle fountain. The race is cupless; runners are expected to use a reusable cup or a hydration pack. Drop bags are available for the 14 km and 21 km distances. First aid personnel will be on site and the organizer may remove participants for safety reasons. A four hour cutoff applies to the course.
Finishers receive custom medals and top finishers receive awards. Early registrants by May 9, 2027 are eligible for a personalized bib. Free professional course photos are provided. Participants can earn MATR points toward prizes via the UT of MB. A post-race BBQ voucher is included with registration.
Parking at the site is limited. No refunds are offered after registration and bib transfers are permitted until June 6, 2027. The organizer may alter the course or cancel the event for safety or environmental reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
