About the race
Groovy Granite takes place on June 13, 2027 in Lee River, MB, on Treaty 1 territory and the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene Peoples and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. The race is set on the historic grounds of the AECL Underground Research Laboratory and follows the rim of a large granite batholith with views of the Lee River, boreal forest, and weathered rock.
The event uses a looped course with multiple distance options:
- 21 km
- 14 km
- 7 km
An aid station is located at the start and finish and is stocked with water, Gatorade, snack bars, candy, chips, and a pickle fountain. The event is cupless; participants should bring a reusable cup or hydration pack. Drop bags are available for 14 km and 21 km entrants. First aid will be on site and the race director may remove participants from the course for safety reasons.
Finishers receive custom medals and top finishers receive unique awards. Early registration by May 9, 2027 qualifies for a personalized bib. A BBQ voucher is included with registration and free professional course photos will be provided. Parking is limited so carpooling is recommended. No refunds; bib transfers are allowed until June 6, 2027. The organizers may alter or cancel the event for safety or environmental reasons.
