Groovy Granite

Groovy Granite takes place on June 13, 2027 in Lee River, MB on the historic grounds of the AECL Underground Research Laboratory. The fourth edition uses a looped course that follows the rim of a large granite batholith and passes through Boreal Forest with views of the Lee River and exposed ancient rock.

Race day includes bib pickup at the race site, a mandatory racer meeting, staggered starts by distance, and a course closure with a four hour cutoff. The aid station at the start/finish is stocked with water, Gatorade, SunRype bars, candy, chips and a pickle fountain. The event is cupless; participants are expected to use a reusable cup or hydration pack. Drop bags are available for 14 km and 21 km participants. First aid is on-site and the Race Director may remove participants for safety reasons.

Finishers receive custom medals and top finishers receive unique awards. Early registrants by May 9, 2027 can receive a personalized bib. Free professional course photos are provided and participants can earn MATR points toward prizes. A BBQ voucher is included with registration.

Parking space is limited. Spectators are welcome; pacers are not allowed. No refunds after registration; bib transfers accepted until June 6, 2027. The course may be adjusted or the event cancelled for safety or environmental reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
