Groovy Granite - 2026
Groovy Granite is the third edition of a trail running event held in the Lee River region of Manitoba on Treaty 1 territory. The course uses historic grounds at the AECL Underground Research Laboratory and runs along the rim of a large granite batholith, offering views of the Lee River, boreal forest, and weathered rock formations.
The event uses a looped course with three distance options:
- 21 km
- 14 km
- 7 km
An aid station at the start and finish is stocked with water, electrolytes, Sunrype bars, fruit, chips, and pickles. The race is cupless; participants are expected to use their own reusable cup or hydration system. Drop bags are available for 14 km and 21 km participants. St. John Ambulance provides on-site medical support and the race director may withdraw participants for safety reasons.
Registrations made before May 10 include custom Groovy Granite gear and a personalized bib. Registration closes on June 7 at 23:59 CT and bib transfers are allowed until that date. No refunds are offered. Finishers receive custom medals and top finishers receive awards. Free professional course photos are provided. Parking is limited. Pacers are not permitted. Participants may earn MATR points toward prizes via the UT of MB. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
