Grim Challenge (11 January 2026)
The Grim Challenge is a winter trail running event held at the Army Tank Training Area, Fleet Road, Aldershot. The event offers two distances: 4 miles and 8 miles. The course runs over army vehicle testing ground and uses natural features rather than man-made obstacles. The route is known for thick mud, areas of deep water and places where participants may crawl under cargo nets or wade through waist-high water.
Entries, ages and fees
Entry options include standard places and charity places in support of Combat Stress. Age minimums are 13 years for the 4-mile race and 16 years for the 8-mile race. Entry fees and charity prices range from £10 to £37. Charity place entrants commit to fundraising targets of £75 for the 4-mile place and £100 for the 8-mile place.
On-site services and logistics
All finishers receive a medal and a GRIM beanie. The event provides energy products from HIGH5 on course and at the finish, free digital race photos, medical backup, secure baggage storage and on-site toilets. Event t-shirts are available for purchase in unisex sizes (XS to 2XL). There are two car parks accessed from Fleet Road; both are a 5-10 minute walk from the start area and each car park has a single entrance and exit.
