Grey Rock Trail Runs, July 11, 2026
Grey Rock Trail Runs are summer trail races held near Yakima, WA in the Ahtanum State Forest, with the start at Tree Phones Campground. This event is in its 16th year and takes place on single-track trails in the Cascade Mountains.
The course is out and back and features varied mountain terrain, including open ridges, forested stretches, rocky sections, and smoother forest trails. There are views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. The higher mountain elevation tends to keep temperatures lower, but it can become very warm by midday.
Distances:
- 25K over 3500 ft elevation gain on a single-track out and back
- 12K shorter option following the same route
Aid stations will offer water, electrolyte drinks, power bars, and gels at the 25K turnaround. Participants are advised to carry water and snacks. Medals are awarded to the top three men and top three women in each event. Parking requires a Washington State Discover Pass for all vehicles. Custom short sleeve tech T-shirts are available for $30; orders placed after June 30 may not be available on race day. Light refreshments are provided after the race. No refunds are offered.
