Grey Rock Trail Runs
Grey Rock Trail Runs are summer trail races held in the Cascade Mountains near Yakima, WA, at Tree Phones Campground in the Ahtanum State Forest. The event is in its 16th year and uses an out-and-back single-track course.
- 25K - out and back single-track, about 3500 ft elevation gain
- 12K - follows the same route as the 25K with an earlier turnaround
The route includes open ridges, forested stretches, rocky sections and smoother forest trails. There are views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. The higher mountain elevation can keep temperatures lower, but conditions can still become very warm by mid day.
Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, power bars and gels at the 25K turnaround. Participants are advised to carry additional water and snacks. Medals are awarded to the top three men and top three women in each event.
Parking requires a Washington State Discover Pass. Custom short sleeve tech T-shirts are available for purchase for $30; orders placed after June 30 may not be available on race day. Light refreshments are included for participants after the race. Registration closes on Fri, Jul 10 at 11:59 PM PT. No refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
