Greensand Way Ultra Run
This is a guided trail run of 30 miles starting and finishing at West Hanger near Guildford. The route uses sections of the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way and includes a mix of trails and summit sections. Entry cost is £55 per person and terms and conditions apply. A car park is available at the start and a train station is a short run or taxi ride away; Guildford has good transport links.
The planned route follows the North Downs Way past Box Hill before turning south to join the Greensand Way and head west. Key climbs include Leith Hill, followed by summits such as Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill, with notable views to the south. The route then heads north toward Shere and returns to the start point at West Hanger.
This is not a race. Participants run as a group at a social pace, with steeper sections often walked and regular regrouping. Organisers advise having completed at least 22 miles in training beforehand and being comfortable sustaining an average trail pace of around 10 minutes per mile (6:15 min/km) for prolonged periods. Faster runners should expect some sections to be run at an easier, more social pace. A full kit list will be provided and additional event information will be sent to participants in the days before the run.
