About the race
On Saturday 1 May 2027 a guided trail run takes place starting and finishing at West Hanger, near Guildford, Surrey. The route uses parts of the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way to showcase local trails and viewpoints.
The distance is 30 miles and the entry fee is £55 per person. There is a free car park at the start and the location is a short run or taxi ride from a train station.
The route begins along the North Downs Way, passes Box Hill, then heads south to join the Greensand Way. Runners will follow the Greensand Way west, take on Leith Hill, and cover additional summits including Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill, before returning north towards Shere and back to West Hanger.
The run is guided by an experienced trail and ultra runner who is also a mountain leader and coach. This is not a race; the group runs together, often hiking steeper climbs and regrouping regularly. Participants are advised to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average pace around 10 min per mile (6:15 min per km) on trails. A full kit list is provided in advance and further event information is sent to participants a few days before the run. An alcohol free beer may be offered at the end, subject to availability.
