The Great Welsh Marathon
The Great Welsh Marathon is scheduled in Swansea on 17 October 2027 and comprises a full marathon and a half marathon, with the 2027 race starting and finishing in Swansea (SA1 3LQ). The event is UKA licensed and AIMS certified and is listed as a World Marathon Majors qualifying race.
The course is described as a coastal city route with scenic surroundings and in-event support intended to aid personal best attempts. Hydration is provided by Brecon Carreg at the following marathon stations: miles 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 and at the finish. Runners are advised to bring a pre-filled bottle or hydration pack and to use the recycling bins on course.
Race packs are collection only and include a race number with an integrated timing chip; official merchandise can be collected if pre-ordered. There is no entry on the day. The marathon has a total cut off time of six hours and a rolling checkpoint policy at mile 8 (runners exceeding the time limit there will not be able to continue).
Entry is transferable subject to the event procedure and fees, transfers have specified deadlines, and a one-time deferral option is available with a fee and required proof. Refunds are not offered.
