50th Annual Great Waldensian Footrace
The Great Waldensian Footrace takes place in Valdese, North Carolina, as part of the Festival of the Glorious Return. This long-standing event coincides with the Historic Valdese Festival, where attendees can find local crafts, food, and entertainment throughout the day. Participants and guests have access to the Valdese Community Pool for a swim after the event.
The race features out and back courses that begin and end at the Valdese Community Center, located off Carolina Avenue. Timing and scoring for the event are provided by race|result. Participants should prepare for weather conditions involving high temperatures and high humidity typical for the month of August. The courses for this event are not USATF certified.
Available distances include:
- 10,000 meter Run
- 5,000 Meter Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is free of charge, though award eligibility is limited to participants aged 13 and younger. For the other distances, registration fees increase as the event date approaches, with specific rates available for students. While race day registration is permitted during a designated morning window, t-shirts are only guaranteed for those who enter by mid-July.
