Coventry Building Society Great North SwimRun
The Coventry Building Society Great North SwimRun takes place at Lake Windermere in the Lake District on Saturday 13 June 2026. The event combines multiple open-water swims and trail running stages on a single course where competitors carry their own kit and wear the same clothing for water and land sections.
Two distances are offered:
- Short: Swim 2090 m, Run 10.2 km, Total 12.9 km, Elevation 170 m, Age 16+
- SwimRun: Swim 3590 m, Run 20.2 km, Total 23.9 km, Elevation 280 m, Age 17+
Wetsuits are compulsory and there are no transition areas to change clothing. Entries are individual, not pairs. Competitors must be able to swim a minimum of half a mile unaided in open water. Feed stations are placed at points on course and provide water, bars, bloks and energy gels. The route is waymarked and a course map is supplied; basic map reading and a compass are recommended. GPX files and OS Maps routes are available for the courses.
Timing is electronic with an ankle timing chip and mats at the start and finish. There is no cut off time for the Short distance. For the longer SwimRun a safety cut off may be enforced at Brathay Hall if a competitor takes longer than four hours to reach that point. Baggage and changing facilities are provided near the finish and spectators may view from points on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
