Coventry Building Society Great North SwimRun
Held on Saturday 13 June 2026, this event combines open-water swimming with trail running around Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Competitors complete multiple swim and run stages and carry everything they need from start to finish.
- SwimRun Short - Swim 2,090 m; Run 10.2 km; Total 12.9 km; Age 16+
- SwimRun - Swim 3,590 m; Run 20.2 km; Total 23.9 km; Age 17+
Wetsuits are compulsory and entries are for individuals. There are no transition areas to change clothing, and leaving equipment or receiving external support is against the rules. Feed stations on course provide water, bars, bloks and energy gels.
The terrain is mixed, with trails and paths shared with the public. The route will be waymarked and competitors receive a course map; a compass and basic map reading skills are expected. Competitors must be able to swim at least half a mile unaided in open water.
Timing is via an ankle timing chip. There is no cut off for the Short distance. For the longer SwimRun there is one safety cut off at Brathay Hall; anyone taking longer than four hours to reach that point may only continue if the medics deem them fit. Baggage and changing facilities are available near the finish and spectators may view from locations on course. GPX and OS map files are provided for the routes.
