Coventry Building Society Great North SwimRun
The Coventry Building Society Great North SwimRun is a multisport event on Lake Windermere in the Lake District that combines open water swimming with trail running. The event takes place on Saturday 13 June 2026 and is contested by individuals rather than pairs.
Participants must wear wetsuits and carry all their own equipment for both swim and run sections. Competitors will swim in their trainers and run in their wetsuits as required by the format. The route is waymarked and supplied with a course map; basic map reading skills and a compass are part of the required competency. Ankle timing chips are used for official timing.
Feed stations are positioned at points on the course and provide water, bars, bloks and energy gels. Baggage and changing facilities are available near the finish area. The terrain is mixed and at times difficult, with trails and paths shared with the public. There are GPX files and OS maps available for the routes.
Two individual distances are offered:
- Short distance: swim 2090 m and run 10.2 km, elevation 170 m, age 16 plus.
- SwimRun distance: swim 3590 m and run 20.2 km, elevation 280 m, age 17 plus.
Entry fees are stated per person: Short final price £90 and SwimRun final price £125; a booking fee is applied at checkout. For the longer distance there is a safety cut off at Brathay Hall where participants taking longer than four hours to reach that point may be stopped on medical grounds.
