Great Ireland Run 2026

The Great Ireland Run is a 10 km road race held in Phoenix Park, Dublin. Organized by the Dublin City Harriers athletic club, the event is part of the Athletics Ireland Championships. The race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities, provided they are at least 18 years old on race day.

The course for 2026 is a newly measured route designed with a minimum of hills. The race starts on Chesterfield Avenue and takes participants through various landmarks within the park, including:

  • Ordnance Survey Road
  • Upper Glen Road near the Furry Glen lake
  • St Mary's Lane and Acres Road
  • The Papal Cross and the Phoenix Monument

A water station is located at the 5 km mark, providing water in decomposable tetra packs. The course remains open for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Facilities at the event include a tented village with a secure bag drop, a large bank of restrooms, and a dedicated bike park to encourage cycling to the venue. Medical support is provided by St John Ambulance with a doctor in attendance.

All finishers receive a wooden medallion and a digital certificate. Participants also receive a live result notification and a short video of their finish. Prizes are awarded to the top six male and female seniors, winners of masters categories from O/35 to O/80, and the top AAI/ANI teams.
