Race Details

The NYCRUNS Great Gobble 5K takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The event features a 5K distance. The course consists of a single loop within the park, finishing with a sprint up Center Drive. The route is USATF-certified.

Festival Area & Start

The festival area is located in the Nethermead, accessible via Center Drive or paths from Well House Drive. Bib pickup, shirt collection, gear check, and bathrooms are available there. The start corrals are pace-based, assigned letters AA through F, and are located on Well House Drive, a five-minute walk from the festival area. Handcycle and wheelchair division athletes are welcomed, with specific instructions for arrival times.

Amenities & Logistics

Participants receive an official race shirt and a finisher medal. Post-race refreshments include water, Gatorade, a bag of pretzels, an apple, and a bagel. Bag check requires a single clear bag, which can be provided on-site. Portable bathrooms are available. Free race photos are provided by MarathonFoto after the event. Bibs are picked up on race day in the festival area using a unique QR code, or they can be mailed in advance for NYCRUNS members or for an additional fee.

Awards & Pricing

Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary runners (gun time) and the top three in various age groups (net/chip time). The race is a qualifier for the NYCRUNS Local Elite Athlete Race Entry Program for members who meet specific time standards. Pricing starts at $35 and increases in stages until registration closes.

Getting There & Policies

Public transit is recommended. The closest subway stations are Prospect Park (S, Q trains) and 15th St-Prospect Park (F, G trains). Several bus lines and Citi Bike stations are nearby. Parking is limited. Strollers and dogs are not permitted. A no-refunds, no-transfers policy is in place, with race credit available for members.
