NYCRUNS Great Gobble 5K

The NYCRUNS Great Gobble 5K is a 5K running event held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The course consists of one loop around the park that is slightly less than a full circuit, ending with a final sprint up Center Drive. All courses provided by the organizer are USATF-certified.

Participants can access the Festival Area in the Nethermead via Center Drive or walking paths from Well House Drive. This area serves as the central hub for bib pickup, shirt distribution, and gear check. The start line is located on Well House Drive, approximately a five-minute walk from the Festival Area. The event utilizes a pace-based corral system for the start, with assignments based on the pace indicated in the participant's profile.

The event is inclusive of different athletic divisions:

  • 5K (Open to all runners)
  • Handcycle Division
  • Wheelchair Division

Available amenities include a bag check service starting in the morning, portable bathrooms throughout the event site, and hydration stations offering water on the course. At the finish line, water and electrolyte drinks are provided alongside post-race refreshments such as bagels, apples, and pretzels. Participants receive an official race shirt and a finisher medal.

Awards are presented to the top three finishers in the male, female, and non-binary categories for both overall standings and specific age groups ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. This race also serves as a qualifying event for the NYCRUNS Local Elite Athlete Race Entry Program.

Mass transit is recommended for reaching the venue. Nearby subway options include the Prospect Park Station (S and Q lines) and the 15th St-Prospect Park Station (F and G lines). Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
