Athora Bruges Marathon
The Athora Bruges Marathon is an international running and walking event held in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bruges and the surrounding polder landscapes of Damme. The course is officially measured and certified by World Athletics.
The event offers several participation options:
- Marathon (running)
- Half Marathon (running)
- Family Walk (walking)
The start is located at ‘t Zand, while the finish line is situated at the Grote Markt in the heart of the city. For runners, the course features kilometer markings and various refreshment stations. A pacer team is available for both the marathon and half marathon to guide participants toward specific target finish times. Runners have a time limit of 6 hours for the full marathon, while the half marathon course remains open based on a pace of 7 minutes per kilometer.
Participants receive a package including a unique medal at the finish, access to a food market at ‘t Zand, and use of changing rooms and showers located at Potterierei 11. Participants in the full marathon also receive an event T-shirt. Walkers enjoy a culinary treat at the Hotel and Tourism School Spermalie. The start area is located approximately 1.5 km from the Bruges railway station, and the organizers encourage the use of public transport or bicycles.
