Great Bentley Friday 5
The Friday 5 Series returned for 2026. The Great Bentley Running Club event in this series will take place on 3 July 2026 and will start and finish at Great Bentley Village Hall, Colchester CO7 8LW. The series comprises six open races held on summer Friday evenings.
The main race is an approximately five mile, UKA measured event with chip timing. Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams at each race and for the series overall using a points system. Entry fees for the main race are £16 for members of UKA affiliated athletics clubs and £18 for non-members. The race limit is 500. Due to the nature of the course, music devices including bone conduction headphones are not permitted.
Facilities and support include baggage storage, first aid, marshalled routes, water stations, refreshments, a memento for all finishers and course suitability for wheelchairs. There is no participant parking at the Village Hall; ample parking is available near the Village Green and will be signposted and marshalled. There will be a road closure on Weeley Road for the junior race which could affect access to the main car park.
Junior races are held on the Village Green with a safe off road course, marshals, water and a memento for all finishers. Entry for juniors is £6 and adults running with a young child are free of charge. Race numbers are issued by email and phone signal on the Green is limited.
