Great Bentley Friday 5 - 3 July 2026
The Friday 5 series has returned for 2026. The series comprises six open races of approximately five miles each, held during the summer on Friday evenings. Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams at each race and for the series overall based on a points system. The series dates include events at Kirton, Framlingham, Sudbury, Bury, Stowmarket and Great Bentley.
The Great Bentley race will start and finish at Great Bentley Village Hall, Hall View Rd, Great Bentley, Colchester CO7 8LW. There is no participant parking at the Village Hall; ample parking is available near the Village Green and will be signposted and marshalled. A road closure on Weeley Road for the junior race may affect access to the main car park.
Main race details include a flat, fast five mile course that is UKA measured and chip timed, a minimum age of 15 years, baggage storage, first aid, marshals, water stations, refreshments and a memento for all finishers. Music devices including bone conduction headphones are not permitted. The race limit is 500 and a cut-off time of 1 hour 15 minutes applies. Entry fees for the main race are £16 for members of UKA affiliated clubs and £18 for non-members.
Junior races are held on the Village Green with two distances run together: school years 4 and below run 1 km, school years 5 and above run 2 km. These are off road with one road crossing that will be closed. The junior entry fee is £6, adults running with their child run free, and marshals, water and finisher mementos are provided.
