About the race
Maine Endurance Sports Alliance (MESA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organizes the Bangor Running Festival on June 6, 2027 in Bangor, Maine. The festival includes multiple road race distances and is USATF sanctioned and Boston certified (Marathon ME24008BK, Half ME24007BK).
The event offers the following distances:
- 26.2 Miles full marathon
- 13.1 Miles half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The full marathon course runs through Bangor, along Valley Avenue to Broadway with a turnaround in the town of Kenduskeag, and returns to a finish at Bangor Waterfront Park. The half marathon follows the same route with an earlier turnaround on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road. Course maps are available.
Cash awards are specified for the full marathon with first place at $1,000, second place $500, and third place $250 for both men and women. Special multi-race medals and awards are offered: a "Run the Highlands" medal for participants who complete both the Bangor and Lincoln races, a "Vacationland Triple Crown" for completing three of the four festival races in a season, and a newly announced award for participants who complete all four races in 2027.
Additional event features include a vendor area at the finish, nearby parking and lodging options, packet pickup scheduled for June 12, 2027, and a bottle drop at the operations tent at the starting area with bottles placed on tables at water stations for participant pickup.
