Great Bangor Marathon & Half

The Event
The Great Bangor Marathon & Half takes place on June 7, 2026. It is organized by the Maine Endurance Sports Alliance (MESA), a nonprofit organization. The event is USATF sanctioned and the marathon and half marathon courses are Boston certified.
Distances
Participants can choose from four race distances:
- Bangor Marathon
- Bangor Half Marathon
- Bangor Running Festival 10K
- Bangor Running Festival 5K
Course Details
The starting line is at the corner of Main Street and Dutton Street in Bangor, Maine. The full marathon course runs through Bangor, out Valley Avenue to Broadway, with a turnaround point in the town of Kenduskeag, and finishes at Bangor Waterfront Park. The half marathon follows the same initial route, turning around on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road.
Additional Information
The event has no time limit. All Sports Events is the official timer. There will be a vendor area at the finish line for participants and guests. The organizer notes there is plenty of nearby parking, affordable lodging, and dining options.
Packet pickup is scheduled for June 6, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at THE MAINE EXPERIENCE on the Bangor Waterfront. In 2026, special medals are offered for completing multiple races: the "Run the Highlands" medal for finishing both the Bangor and Lincoln Marathons, and the "Vacationland Triple Crown" medal for completing three of the organizer's four races in 2026.
