Bangor Marathon Running Festival
The Bangor Marathon Running Festival is organized by Maine Endurance Sports Alliance (MESA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and takes place in Bangor, Maine on June 7, 2026. The event includes multiple distances and a start area at the corner of Main Street and Dutton Street, with the course returning to a finish at Bangor Waterfront Park. The event is USATF sanctioned and Boston certified with certification codes provided for the marathon and half marathon.
Distances offered:
- 26.2 miles Full marathon
- 13.1 miles Half marathon
- 10K Ten kilometer race
- 5K Five kilometer race
The full marathon course runs through Bangor, along Valley Avenue to Broadway, with a turnaround in Kenduskeag and a return to the waterfront. The half marathon follows the same route with a turnaround on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road. All Sports Events is the official timer for the races. There is no time limit for completion.
The full marathon lists cash awards for top finishers, including amounts for first, second, and third places in both men and women divisions. Special medals are offered for series participation: the Run the Highlands medal for completing both the Bangor Marathon and the Lincoln Marathon, and the new Vacationland Triple Crown medal for completing three of the four festival races in 2026. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at The Maine Experience on the Bangor Waterfront.
