The Great Bangor Marathon & Half : event overview
The Great Bangor Marathon & Half takes place in Bangor, Maine on June 7, 2026. The event uses a start area at the corner of Main Street and Dutton Street and finishes at Bangor Waterfront Park (Dutton Street entrance), just south of Geaghan’s restaurant.

The full marathon course runs through Bangor, out Valley Avenue to Broadway, with a turnaround in the town of Kenduskeag and a return to the waterfront finish. The half marathon follows the same route with an earlier turnaround on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road. The published course profile shows approximately a 170 foot elevation difference from start to finish. The event is USATF sanctioned and Boston certified (Marathon ME24008BK; Half ME24007BK). All Sports Events is the official timer. There is no time limit for race completion.
Support and logistics include acceptance of runners’ bottles at the operations tent at the start for placement at water station tables, a vendor area at the finish, and a beverage garden operated by beverage sponsor Geaghan’s at the finish area. Packet pickup is scheduled for June 6 at THE MAINE EXPERIENCE on the Bangor Waterfront. Prize money and award details for marathon, half marathon and age categories will be announced in January 2026. A special Run the Highlands medal will be awarded to runners who complete both the Bangor and Lincoln events. Nearby parking, lodging and dining are available.
