Gower Coastal Trail Races : 26 September 2026
The event comprises three point-to-point trail races on the Gower Peninsula coast with the following distances:
- Gower Ultra 50 50 miles circumnavigation of the peninsula
- Gower Ultra Bach 34 miles, covering the final two thirds of the coastline
- Gower Trail Race 23 miles, from Rhossili to Mumbles
The Ultra 50 begins at Mumbles Cricket Club and follows coastal cliffs, a flat section around Swansea Bay, inland woodland and an old railway cycle path before rejoining the Wales Coast Path. The Ultra Bach joins in around the Loughor Estuary region and the Trail Race links in near Rhossili. The route passes Rhossili Bay, Worms Head, Port Eynon, Oxwich, Three Cliffs, Caswell, Langland and finishes near Rams Tor.
Navigation is primarily self navigated using a GPS trace, the Wales Coast Path signs and the provided route map and instructions. Where navigation is tricky the organisers will add extra arrows, flags or marshals. A route map and GPS file are available for download.
There are manned checkpoints that supply water, energy drinks, hot drinks, snacks and soup. The Ultra 50 has eight checkpoints, the Ultra Bach six, and the Trail Race four. GPS tracking and electronic timing are included for all competitors and a drop bag transfer is provided for the Ultra 50.
Coach transport is provided to the Ultra Bach and Trail Race starts; the Ultra Bach start has no parking and is on a working farm. Compulsory kit must be carried for all races. Time limits apply: 15.5 hours for the Ultra 50, 13 hours for the Ultra Bach and 11.5 hours for the Trail Race.
Entry fees are £85 for the Ultra 50, £55 for the Ultra Bach and £42 for the Trail Race. Race photography, an event medal, changing facilities, post race soup and a roll, and first aid and physiotherapy cover are included with entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
