Event overview
Gone Loco takes place on the Eureka Trail in Athens, TN. The event offers multiple distance options:
- 33 Miler (55k)
- 11 Miler
- 11 Mile Ruck
The live race is limited to 150 participants. Registration closes on February 7. The 55k serves as a qualifier for the Cherokee Ultra. Refunds are not available. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, with an extra award for the top male and female in the live event.
Course and logistics
The course follows the Eureka Trail, a former railroad bed with fine-mesh gravel. The trail runs southeast through woodlands, rural landscapes, and the community of Mashburn, ending near Englewood. The course is certified as a marathon course (TN25001MS).
There will be two fully stocked aid stations: one at the start/finish area and one at the turnaround in Englewood. Pacers are allowed on the 33 miler after the first lap and may use aid station supplies. The event includes an 11 mile ruck division with required minimum pack weights: men 30 lb dry, women 15 lb dry, boys under 15 20 lb, girls under 15 10 lb. A weigh-in is required before the event and weights must be verifiable plates or clearly stamped items. Finishers in the ruck division receive a patch. The race has a course cutoff that allows 33 milers ten hours to complete the distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
