Golden State Trail Run : Marina, CA
The Golden State Trail Run offers multiple trail distances on the lands of Fort Ord National Monument near Fort Ord Travel Camp in East Garrison, CA. Courses for this summer event are newly designed and are different from the winter Fort Ord Trail Runs; they include new trails and increased sections of single-track running.
Available distances include:
- 50K: 31 Miles
- 35K: 22.9 Miles
- Half Marathon: 13.3 Miles
- 10K: 6.4 Miles
The routes cross varied vegetation zones that remain on the former military base, including maritime chaparral, grasslands, marshes, and fields of seasonal flowers. Fort Ord National Monument supports a range of plant and animal life, including species that are rare or endangered and seldom found outside the monument.
Terrain along the courses includes rolling hills, broad fields of wildflowers, smooth single-track sections, sandy hills, and exposed fire roads. The combination of vegetation types and trail surfaces produces a mix of natural scenery and changing footing across the different distances.
