Going Bananas Run - Twin Cities
The Going Bananas Run Twin Cities is a fun run held in Spring Park, Minnesota, with the start and finish at Back Channel Brewing. The course is about 2 miles, follows Shoreline Drive with lake views, then turns onto Bartlett Boulevard before reaching a turnaround on Glendale Road and Avon Drive. The route is flat and smooth and uses a lollipop format that is spectator friendly.
All participants receive a banana suit to wear during the race, a custom bib, and a champion pin. Two minutes after the mass start the event releases a costumed "Gorilla" who chases the runners; participants who reach the finish before the Gorilla earn a special prize and trigger a $5 donation from their entry fee to Gold Together for Childhood Cancer. The event lists a 2027 charity partner and a donation goal of $5,000.
Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event at Back Channel Brewing. After the race there are post-race celebrations at the brewery with food, drinks, and themed items such as banana ice cream and bananas for participants. Strollers are allowed but are asked to stay toward the back of the pack. Returning participants may reuse a previous banana suit or opt for a limited edition race tee.
