Gobi Hybrid Games
The Gobi Hybrid Games is a team fitness race held on a grass field at Déjà Vu Equestrian in George, Western Cape. The course uses a 100 m by 50 m field with a 300 m lap around the perimeter. Each running leg is 900 m (three laps) and teams complete eight run-station cycles for a total of 7.2 km running and eight strength stations.
At each station teams must complete set exercises in the same order: 1) DB snatch, 2) Burpee broad jump, 3) Farmers carry, 4) Box step overs, 5) Tyre flip, 6) DB lunges, 7) Plate drag, 8) Wall balls. All equipment and the same weights for every category are provided at each station. Teams cross the finish line together and the final wall balls are positioned at the finish.
Team formats:
- Teams of 2: both athletes run every 900 m leg together; each athlete runs 7.2 km and teammates split station reps as they choose.
- Relay of 4: athletes take turns; each athlete covers two legs (1.8 km) and two stations. Categories include men, women, and mixed relays with specific composition rules for the mixed class.
A separate 4 km Rave Run with a live DJ serves as a warm up. The Rave Run is social, un-timed, and included with race entries or available on its own. Spectators are free and food vendors will be on site. Age minimums apply for the race and differ for the Rave Run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
