Tackle Trauma 5K Race and Fundraiser
The Tackle Trauma event is an annual running race organized by the Arizona Trauma Association at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. This event aims to raise awareness and funds for trauma education, injury prevention, and research initiatives within the state of Arizona. The race addresses a significant public health issue, as traumatic injuries represent a leading cause of death for individuals up to age 46.
Participants have the option to complete the race in person or through a virtual format. The in-person event takes place at Kiwanis Park, where attendees can interact with sponsors and neighbors. The event features a neon theme with glowing lights. Virtual participants can complete their distance at any location and receive a race packet that includes a neon-themed t-shirt and a bib. People are encouraged to participate in their EMS gear if applicable.

The event includes an awards ceremony for those participating in person. First-place awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in several age categories, including 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and those 70 and over. Registration is open to the public, and fees contribute directly to supporting the integrated trauma system and reducing fatalities in the region.
