Glimmerglass Triathlon, Cooperstown NY
The Glimmerglass Triathlon on Aug 22, 2026 is a multisport race held at Glimmerglass State Park on Otsego Lake near Cooperstown, NY. The event combines paddle, bike, and run segments with transitions at the lakefront pavilion and beachfront areas.
Distances
- Paddle: 2 miles kayak or canoe on the protected waters of Hyde Bay
- Bike: 18 miles loop north of the park on quiet secondary roads
- Run: 5K course crossing the Hyde Hall footbridge through park trails
The paddle portion begins at the beachfront and finishes on the beach with a nearby transition area at the lakefront pavilion. Bikes are staged near the pavilion for the bike segment. The bike route follows secondary roads north of the park and returns to the transition zone for the run. The run winds through wooded trails and open spaces and finishes with lakefront views.
Teams may enter as relays of three or four members, with each team member taking one segment. Participants must provide their own equipment, including bikes, kayaks or canoes, and flotation devices; rentals are available through the registration process. Equipment staging is organized on race morning.
Safety requirements include a Type I, II, or III personal flotation device for each person on board and a mouth whistle on vessels. Cyclists must wear helmets and will be checked at bike staging. One water and sports drink station is located on the 5K at Mill Road near the Hyde Hall entrance shortly after the one mile mark. No refunds will be provided.
