Event overview
The Fire and Ice Winter Run is a late winter trail race held in Gilbert Lake State Park in New Lisbon, NY. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
Registration closes in mid-February. Refunds and deferrals are available depending on individual circumstances. Proceeds from the event will be given to The Neighborhood Center.
Course and support
The course uses a marked loop of approximately 6 miles on single and double track trail, gravel paths, and roads. Runners complete multiple loops to reach each distance: the 50K is five loops, the 25K is two plus loops, and the 10K is one loop. Given possible snowy conditions, runners may choose to run with or without snowshoes. Aid is provided at the Briggs cabin on Gilbert Lake and includes food, coffee, and indoor warmth from fireplaces. All finishers receive a finishing award, and special awards are provided for male, female, and masters winners. A course map and GPS route file will be provided before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
