Event overview
The Fire and Ice Winter Run is scheduled for February 21, 2026 at Gilbert Lake State Park in New Lisbon, NY. The event offers three distances:
- 50k
- 25k
- 10k
The race takes place on a looped trail course through the park. Given possible snowy conditions, runners may choose to run with or without snowshoes. All proceeds will be donated to The Neighborhood Center, a local nonprofit that provides services including childcare/family services and mental health services. All finishers will receive a finishing award, most likely a coffee mug. Special awards will be given to the top male, female, and masters finishers.
Course and logistics
The course is an approximately 6-mile loop, mainly on single and double track trails with some gravel paths and roads. Each loop has about 625 ft of elevation gain. Runners complete multiple laps by distance: 50k equals 5 loops, 25k equals about 2+ loops, and 10k equals 1 loop. Aid is provided at the Briggs cabin on Gilbert Lake and includes drink mix, food, water, coffee, and warmth from fireplaces. A course map and GPS route file will be provided prior to the race. Registration is through UltraSignup; published entry fees are $45 for the 50k, $35 for the 25k, and $30 for the 10k. Registration closes February 18 at 11:59 PM ET.
