Fire and Ice Winter Run : Gilbert Lake State Park
The Fire and Ice Winter Run is a late-winter trail event held on February 21, 2026 at Gilbert Lake State Park in New Lisbon / Laurens, NY. The course uses a looped layout that runs through forested sections and combines single-track and double-track trail, gravel paths, and short road segments.
The loop measures approximately 6 miles and has about 625 feet of elevation gain. Runners complete multiple loops depending on distance:
- 50K - five loops
- 25K - two plus loops
- 10K - one loop
Given possible snowy conditions, runners may choose to run with or without snowshoes. A course map and a GPS route file will be provided before the event, and the loop will be well marked.
Aid is provided at the Briggs cabin on Gilbert Lake and includes drink mix, water, food, coffee, and warmth from fireplaces. All finishers receive a finishing award, most likely a coffee mug, and special awards are given to male, female, and masters winners. Refunds and deferrals are available depending on individual circumstances.
Registration is handled through Ultrasignup with listed entry fees of $45 for the 50K, $35 for the 25K, and $30 for the 10K. All proceeds will be given to The Neighborhood Center, a local nonprofit offering childcare, family services, and mental health services.
