Event Details
The Glentress 8-Hour Challenge is a trail running event where participants complete as many laps as possible within an 8-hour time limit. Each lap is 4.366 miles long and features 830 feet of ascent on trails around Glentress.
Race Format
Runners receive an electronic wristband for timing. The cut-off to begin a final lap is at 7 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. The final lap must be completed by the 9-hour mark. Lap milestones are defined: 3 laps equal a half marathon, 6 laps equal a full marathon, and 7 or more laps qualify as an ultra marathon.
Facilities and Logistics
Parking is available in a designated field at Glentress for a fee. A "Basecamp" area is provided for kit storage, though participants are responsible for their belongings. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp.
Mandatory Kit
Participants must carry:
- Sufficient nutrition and hydration.
- Weather-appropriate clothing.
- Dry clothes for after the event.
- A mobile phone.
- A headtorch.
