Event overview
Glentress 8-hour Challenge is an endurance running event organised by NU Limits Running Ltd on 06/06/2026. Participants aim to complete as many laps of a fixed trail loop as possible within an 8-hour time limit. Total entry places are capped at 250.
Distances
- 4.366 miles per lap
- 3 laps = Half Marathon
- 6 laps = Full Marathon
- 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon
Course and timing
The route is on trail paths around Glentress with about 830 ft of ascent per lap. Runners wear an electronic timing tag (HuTag on a velcro strap or equivalent wristband) that records the start and finish of each lap at the event Basecamp timing monitor. Runners must not cover the tag and should avoid congregating at the start line to prevent false readings. A final lap must be started before the 8-hour cutoff and completed within the event’s allowed finish window. Runners must check out with the timing partner to finalise lap counts and finish times and then collect their finisher prize at the Basecamp gazebo.
Facilities, kit and parking
Basecamp provides two 6 x 3 m gazebos for kit storage; NU Limits Ltd does not accept liability for lost items. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp. Parking is in the designated event field at Glentress, marshalled on arrival, and is charged at £6 per day with a ticket on entry.
Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60-90 g carbohydrates per hour while running), appropriate clothing for weather, dry clothes for after the event, a mobile phone, and a headtorch.
