Glentress 8-Hour Challenge

Event format and route
The Glentress 8-hour Challenge on 06 June 2026 asks runners to complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an eight-hour time limit. Each lap has about 830 ft of ascent and is run entirely on trail paths around Glentress. Laps equate to standard distances as follows:
- 3 laps = Half Marathon
- 6 laps = Full Marathon
- 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon
Runners wear an electronic wristband that records the number of laps completed and the time of each lap.
Logistics, timing, kit and policies
Race timing uses HuTags on velcro straps that register lap start and finish readings with the event timing monitor. Runners must not cover the tag and must check out with the timing partner to finalise their finish and lap count. Finishers collect a finisher prize at the NU Limits Basecamp gazebo.
Basecamp includes two 6 x 3 meter gazebos for kit storage; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp. Allocated parking is in the Glentress event field parking section; parking is charged at £6 per day with a ticket issued on entry and a parking meter near Basecamp for payment.
Mandatory items include sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour; minimum 60-90 g carbohydrates per hour), appropriate clothing, dry clothes for after the event, a mobile phone, and a headtorch. Volunteers are offered free entry for a future event or the race in return for support. Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Event transfers are allowed up to one month before the event; participant transfers up to one week before. Entry fee listed until 03 Jun 2026: £44.95. Total places: 250. Status: Open.
