Glendalough Tucker Trail

The Glendalough Tucker Trail is a mountain running event held in County Wicklow, centered on the Glendalough Valley. The course follows a series of way-marked trails through the mountain landscape, primarily utilizing St Kevin’s Way, the Spink, and the Wicklow Way. The event is a single-stage race that requires completion within a 12-hour limit.

The route consists of three separate "out and back" loops that start and finish at a transition area located beside the Upper Lake car park. The course relies on existing trail signage, such as the St Kevin’s Way and Wicklow Way markers, with only major junctions featuring additional markings. GPS navigation is permitted for participants.

The available distance is:

  • 80 km

The course covers approximately 3,000 meters of total ascent and is classified as extreme difficulty. Participants must be at least 18 years old and hold a current membership with the Irish Mountain Running Association. Registration is handled online, as no cash or race-day entries are accepted.

Because of the mountain environment, specific mandatory equipment is required, including a waterproof jacket with taped seams and an integrated hood, waterproof full leg covers, a hat or buff, gloves, and a whistle. Runners must also carry a foil blanket or bivvy bag, a map of the route, a compass, emergency food, a charged mobile phone, and a minimum of 500 mL of water.
