Glenbeigh Glencar Half/Full Marathon 2026
This is a multi-distance running event in Glenbeigh and Glencar, Co. Kerry, held as part of the Glenbeigh Summer Festival. The event is a fundraiser to support Glenbeigh Glencar GAA Club and Star of the Laune AC to improve and develop their facilities.
The marathon starts in Glencar, loops around the mountains of Glenbeigh and finishes at the Glenbeigh Glencar GAA pitch. The Half Marathon, 10 km and 5 km courses use local roads and paths. The marathon and half marathon have been officially measured in line with Athletics Ireland requirements. The 10 km and 5 km entries are open to walkers.
A shuttle bus will transport marathon runners from the Glenbeigh GAA field to the marathon start at Climbers Inn Glencar; a shuttle service also operates to the 10 km start with regular departures. There is a six hour time limit on the full marathon; an early start option is available for participants who require additional time but requires participants to make their own way to that start and to notify the organisers.
Prizes include cash awards for first, second and third placed male and female finishers in the full and half marathons. Each participant receives a medal and a 1/4 zip top is available to purchase. Race number and jersey pickup is at Glenbeigh GAA pitch; on the day registration is permitted subject to availability. Finish line provision includes refreshments, food, music and kids activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
